Dr. Peter Levine is a psychologist and medical biophysicist.
An American therapist, author, and educator, he specialized in the treatment and understanding of post-traumatic stress, developed Somatic Experiencing® and founded the organization for education and research dedicated to trauma healing and prevention: Somatic Experiencing Training Institute.
Levine worked as a stress consultant for NASA and is now a world leader in trauma healing, both for his theoretical and technical contributions, as well as for his work as a therapist.
Dr. Peter Levine received his Ph.D. in medical biophysics from the University of California at Berkeley and holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the International University. He has worked in the field of stress and trauma for over 40 years.
In 2010, the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP) presented Levine with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to the field of body psychotherapy. In the same year, Levine was also awarded the Reis Davis Honorary Chair in Child Psychiatry for his innovative contribution to child and adolescent therapy. He has worked in the field of stress and trauma for over 40 years.
